Stone Age

A Day in the Life of a Stone Age Tribe

For year groups 3 & 4

Your students will take a trip back in time to over 3000 years ago to become Stone Age Neanderthals!  We will discover what tools and materials they used in the Stone Age, where they lived, how they survived on a daily basis and how it has influenced modern society. From waking up and lighting the fire to hunting Saber tooth tigers, your pupils will go on a wondrous journey back in time.

Florence Nightingale

Saving Lives with Statistics

For year groups 2, 3 & 4

Take a journey around Europe as we follow Florence Nightingale through her life; from being born in Italy, training as a nurse in Germany, saving thousands of soldiers in Russia to opening up a nursing school in London. Your students will recreate momentous scenes from her life so they too can experience the conditions and hurdles she had to endure and how she became a heroine and the founder of modern nursing.

Mr Grumps Makes Friends

For year groups R, 1 & 2

In Emotionville Mr Grumps is feeling very grumpy; your task is to find out how we can make him feel happy. This fun and interactive workshop incorporates masks, facial expression, crazy costumes, body, songs and voice culminating in the pupils creating their very own characters and story. This workshop allows the children to develop a further understanding of how we recognise emotions, what can  affect them and most importantly how we can help ourselves and others to feel better!

Creating Your Own Tragedy

Aristotle's Poetics

For year groups 5 & 6

In 335BC the Greek philosopher Aristotle  wrote the earliest recoded book of drama theory, Aristotle’s Poetics. This book defined a Greek tragedy. He said that a tragedy is compounded of six parts; “plot, character, diction, thought, spectacle and song”. The pupils will use these components alongside music, narration and props to create their very own unique tragedies. 

Creating Your Own Story

Story Makers and Tellers

For year groups 1 & 2

Storytelling is an intrinsic part of society and has been since time began. Children have the wildest imaginations and we will be harnessing their ideas to create our very own story. In this story time adventure the  pupils enter their own world, create the scenery and sounds of their setting, develop their own characters, learn the structure of a story, develop a plot and even construct their own narration. Join us on this Story time adventure!

World War 2

The Evacuee Train

For year groups 3, 4, 5 & 6

During this workshop pupils will experience evacuation on their own evacuee train, find out what rationing was all about, recreate an air raid and build their own Anderson shelter. They’ll learn about women’s changing role in society and how strict school could be during World War two as they travel back to the 1940s!

Victorian London

A Day in the Life of a Victorian Child

For year groups 3, 4, 5 & 6

Victorian schools were a little different to our schools today. It was common practice to have to write lines or stand in the corner with a dunce hat on! This workshop gives children a taste of what life would have been like in Victorian England, what they did for fun and how the lives of rich and poor children differed.

Romans

Paul the Plebeian joins the Roman Army

For year groups 4, 5 & 6

To this day the Roman army is one of the most powerful armies the world has ever seen. During this workshop pupils will learn about what life was like for the soldiers in this army and for the citizens of Rome.  Join the children as they go back to the height of the Roman Empire, discovering its origins with Romulus and Remus and preparing for the war with Boudicca. 

Vikings

Invaders and Settlers

For year groups 3 & 4

The word Viking literally means pirate raid, but these men and women were so much more than bloodthirsty warriors. In this workshop your pupils will discover that Vikings were also traders, farmers and family men.  These Vikings will take an epic trip to Britain, whiling away their time in the long ship and preparing for battle as they plan to raid the monastery of Lindisfarne!

Alice in Wonderland

An Imagination Extravaganza

For year groups 3, 4 & 5

Recreate one of the world’s  most imaginative stories. On this trip down the rabbit hole the students will add their own imaginative twist to Lewis Carroll’s enchanting tale. Visit the magical forest, meet the Cheshire Cat, have tea with the Mad Hatter but beware the Queen of Hearts is not very happy!

Volcanoes

A Hawaiian Adventure

For year groups 3 & 4

Take a trip to Hawaii where the world’s most active Volcano Mauna Loa is bubbling away ready to erupt. On this adventure we will see how the Hawaiians are affected by living on this dangerous land and what they do to stay safe. Let's hope we don't get stranded in an eruption as the temperature soars in tropical Hawaii!

For year groups 5 & 6

Watch the pupils add a twist to this genre as the create their own murder mystery stories. Make sure you have your alibi at the ready as the audience try to solve the crime. Will you figure out whodunit?

NASA Training Camp

For year groups 4, 5 & 6

What's it like to walk on Neptune? How do Astronauts prepare for space? Do aliens exist? Explore this and more as we prepare to enter outer space. You'll be put through your paces at the gruelling NASA training camp before you blast off out of the Milky Way and discover your very own planet.

Great Fire of London

Farriner's Fire

For year groups 2 & 3

Something’s burning in Pudding Lane, but who`s to blame? Help us discover what really happened in 1666. In this workshop your students will create scenes from the great fire of London, exploring the different tactics used to quell the fire, how they eventually tamed the flames and what it might have been like to experience this historic landmark.

Mummifying Madness

For year groups 3, 4 & 5

Travel back in time to join Cleopatra and the citizens of Ancient Egypt. Discover where they lived, what they ate, where they worked and what they did for fun. From the back breaking building work slaves endured, to the luxury of Pharaoh life, join us on this ancient adventure!

Ancient Greece

Acropolis Adventure

For year groups 3, 4 & 5

Take a guided tour of the Acropolis in Athens and visit the statues of the Greek gods. Climb mount Olympus and see if the rumours are true -  can you bring the gods to life? On this magical adventure the children will help Zeus bring peace back to Ancient Greece.

Commedia D'ell Arte

An Improvised Comedy

For year groups 3, 4, 5 & 6

Commedia D’ell Arte is the oldest form of improvised comedy that derived from the social stereotypes of Venice in the 16th century. However these stereotypes still resonate in today's society. Unleash your inner comedian with this fun filled physical workshop using masks, exaggerated physicality  and improvisation.
